Citizens' Police Academy

The Citizen's Police Academy is held twice a year - early in the new year and Fall. It is a 12-week course held every Wednesday evening for three hours. During each session, speakers from various specialty units in the Calgary Police Service will highlight the diverse nature of policing and the services and opportunities they provide to the community. These specialty units include Canine, Tactical Team, Drug Unit, Traffic Section and Major Crimes. Tours of several police facilities are also scheduled during the program.

Applications

Applicants must successfully pass a security clearance check prior to being accepted into the program. They must visit the Police Information Check Unit located at 316 - 7th Avenue S.E. in person. Bring two pieces of government-issued identification one of which must have a photo. There is no charge to apply. Current volunteers with the Calgary Police Service only need to call the telephone number below.
