Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement Training Video
In 2007, the Canadian government formalized a $1.9 billion compensation package for those who were forced to attend Indian Residential Schools (IRS). With cheques rolling out to members of Canada's many Aboriginal communities, Calgary's Police Chief Rick Hanson wanted to ensure Calgary police officers were aware of the agreement and sensitive to IRS survivors. This video was produced by the Service to help educate Calgary police officers about the wide-reaching implications of the IRS system and the settlement agreement on policing and crime. The video later won a Gold 2007 Hermes Creative Award from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.
