The Youth Education Officer (YEO) Program provides proactive, relationship‑based support to Calgary’s K–6 schools through education, prevention, and positive youth engagement. After the program was suspended for several years due to staffing limitations, it relaunched with four YEOs, each supporting approximately 20–25 schools. Despite the current high workload, the program remains focused on building strong connections with students, educators, and families to enhance school safety and well‑being.
Through classroom presentations, mentorship, early‑intervention supports, and timely response to school‑initiated referrals, YEOs help foster safe learning environments and strengthen trusting relationships between youth and police.
