Whether you’re heading out for a weekend getaway or a cross-country adventure, keep safety top of mind. Keep yourself and your belongings secure on the road by following these tips.
Money and valuables
- Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Use credit or debit cards instead.
- Keep records of your credit card numbers in a safe place, along with emergency contact numbers for reporting loss or theft.
- Don’t display money or valuables openly. Keep items like passports, tickets, and electronics out of sight.
- Label and lock your luggage. Use your name and business address on tags, and keep your bags locked.
- Take photos of your luggage to help identify it if lost or stolen.
Personal Safety
- Be aware of your surroundings. Don’t share your travel plans, routes, or financial details with strangers or online.
- Avoid stopping for stranded motorists. Instead, call for help from a safe location.
- If you suspect you're being followed, drive to a well-lit public place like a gas station or restaurant and call the police.
Vehicle Safety
Before You Drive
